Initial Steps of the VOG Toward Cooperation with the DPRK
On November 5th, a meeting was held at the VOG headquarters between Alexander Bochkov, the president of the VOG, and Robert Grund, a representative of the Korean Federation for the Protection of the Disabled, the DPRK Association of the Deaf, and the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD).
Also in attendance were Maxim Larionov, head of the protocol service, Tatiana Trofimova, chief specialist of the international department, and Vladimir Bazoyev, a lecturer at Moscow State Linguistic University, who held the position of chairman of the Moscow City Organization of the VOG for many years.
Robert Grund, a representative of the WFD, facilitates the establishment of connections between the World Federation of the Deaf and the Korean Federation for the Protection of the Disabled, paving new paths for international cooperation for the DPRK Association of the Deaf.
Following the meeting, it was agreed to arrange a meeting with the representative of the DPRK Embassy to discuss the areas of cooperation on an official level.
On November 7th, a meeting took place between Alexander Bochkov, the president of the VOG, and Ri Yong Bom, a representative of the National Tourism Administration of the DPRK and the Korean International Tourist Company. The meeting was held in an informal setting.
During the meeting, Alexander Bochkov noted that a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement was signed this year between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
As the president of the All-Russian Society of the Deaf, Alexander Alexandrovich supports the position of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and, within the framework of the Agreement and for the joint compliance with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, he considers it important to foster cooperation between Korean and Russian societies of the deaf.
The All-Russian Society of the Deaf also highly values the support from the DPRK for our country’s political course and views, as well as the desire to strengthen relations between the countries.
It was decided, as a result of the meeting, to develop further cooperation and strengthen ties, including in the field of tourism, with the VOG in Russia and the DPRK Association of the Deaf in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea taking the lead.
